02WHY IT HAPPENS
Skin Aging And Korean Medicine Anti-Aging
Youthful-looking skin is firm, smooth, radiant, and even in tone. As aging progresses, elasticity decreases, causing wrinkles; tissues sag to one side, and the skin becomes blotchy. Leaving these changes as they are versus preparing for them in advance can make a difference over time.
- 01
No Shaving or Filling
Korean medicine anti-aging has strengths in lifting the elasticity of your own muscles and tissues through the body’s self-recovery capacity, without shaving or artificially filling anything.
- 02
Preserving Natural Facial Expressions
We preserve natural expression lines that reflect joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, while helping soften deep wrinkles and fine wrinkles. Our goal is to make the complexion clearer, the facial line smoother, and the left-right balance more even.
- 03
Minimally Invasive Tailored Procedures
Recent aesthetic trends favor minimally invasive procedures that seek natural changes rather than dramatic ones. People are also starting care earlier, with treatment tailored by age and individual needs from the 20s to the 50s–60s, and men can also receive treatment procedures.

04TREATMENT
Customized Treatment By Concern
Drawing on our experience treating facial conditions, we carefully identify each person’s structural issues and design treatment in detail, with the goal of creating a natural and comfortable impression.
- 01
Wrinkles
The causes of wrinkles differ by area, and even the same wrinkles vary in depth and pattern depending on facial structure. We relax shortened, tight muscles; lift sagging areas; help reduce fat where excess fat makes wrinkles deeper; and fill hollow areas.
- Those who are beginning to notice fine wrinkles and have rough, dry skin
- Those who want to help prevent skin aging in advance
- Those who want to preserve natural expression lines and soften only deep wrinkles
- Those concerned about frown lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or Indian lines that make the face look dark or stern
- Those whose face feels unnatural after repeated wrinkle procedures
Often combined with
- Jeongan Facial Acupuncture
- Thread embedding
- MTS Acupuncture
- Radiofrequency Lifting

Lifting · Contouring
When the facial fat layer becomes thicker due to obesity and swelling, the facial line looks uneven and larger. When elasticity decreases and the facial line collapses, it can create a tired impression. We stimulate the SMAS fascial layer that surrounds the facial muscles with acupuncture to loosen stiff fascia, give appropriate tone to stretched muscles, and lift the sagging fat layer. In areas with thicker fat, such as a double chin, we help support waste product elimination and fat breakdown.
- Those who want natural lifting
- Those who feel especially stressed by a double chin or submental fullness
- Those whose face looks wider along with a straight neck or forward head posture due to a habit of resting the chin on the hand
- For those whose facial contours look more uneven than before
Often combined with
- Jeongan Facial Acupuncture
- Maeseon (Thread Lifting)
- Contour Pharmacopuncture/Wild Ginseng Obesity Pharmacopuncture
- Radiofrequency Lifting
- 03
Facial Asymmetry
The biggest causes of facial asymmetry are misalignment of the temporomandibular joint, spine, and pelvis due to poor posture. We view facial asymmetry as one sign of imbalance in the spine, the body’s center. Based on the meridians and muscle structures that run from the head to the spine, we help correct the underlying causes and restore balance.
- When one cheekbone protrudes
- When the jaw shifts to one side
- When the left and right sides of the face are at different heights
- For those who have sounds or pain when chewing or opening the mouth due to temporomandibular joint disorder

- Jeongan Facial Acupuncture

Sequelae of Facial Palsy
We help manage remaining discomfort and asymmetry when facial palsy has not fully recovered. Facial palsy treatment itself is explained in detail on the facial palsy care page.
- For those with sequelae such as contracture, synkinesis, spasm (twitching), or crocodile tears
- For those with remaining left-right asymmetry because facial palsy has not fully recovered

Post-Cosmetic Surgery · Procedure Care
Swelling and bruising after cosmetic surgery are mainly caused by blood stasis that occurs when blood vessels are damaged. If blood stasis is relieved as early as possible with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine, and circulation and waste product elimination are supported, it may help ease swelling, bruising, and pain, support elasticity recovery, and help prevent sagging skin.
- For those concerned about side effects after cosmetic surgery or aesthetic treatment procedures
- For those whose skin barrier has become thinner from repeated treatment procedures and who feel hesitant about additional treatment procedures
- For those whose swelling or pain lasts a long time after a treatment procedure
- For those who want faster recovery after a treatment procedure
Often combined with
- Acupuncture
- Jeongan Facial Acupuncture
- Blood Stasis Pharmacopuncture
- Detox Herbal Medicine
- Edema Reduction Radiofrequency
- 06
Targeted Body Slimming
Some people have specific areas that do not slim down easily, more so than overall weight loss. Areas that are difficult to reduce, such as the upper arms, thighs, love handles, back, armpits, abdomen, and calves, can become lumpy and firm due to accumulated cellulite. We combine treatments that break down and eliminate fat with treatments that help maintain elasticity to create a slimmer line.
Often combined with
- Fat-Dissolving Electroacupuncture
- Contour Pharmacopuncture/Wild Ginseng Obesity Pharmacopuncture
- Slim Maeseon
- Radiofrequency Slimming
- Chuna Body Shape Correction

05TREATMENT
What treatments do we use? — Acupuncture · Maeseon · Pharmacopuncture · Chuna Manual Therapy
We combine the treatments below depending on your concerns and treatment area.

Jeongan Acupuncture (Facial Balancing Acupuncture, 整顔針)
This acupuncture treatment helps make the face more balanced and aligned, and is also called “baby-face acupuncture.” It uses about 100–180 fine silver needles, mainly on acupoints of the head and neck, face, and chest. We analyze the alignment of the muscles and skeletal structure and help release stagnated qi and blood in areas that affect the facial contour, such as the shoulders, neck, temporal region, and temporomandibular joints. It aims to relax the fascia, support blood and lymph circulation, help improve skin elasticity and a clearer complexion, and address fine wrinkles, facial contour definition, and asymmetry.

Maeseon (Thread Lifting)
This treatment inserts naturally absorbable medicinal threads (PDO maeseon threads) into the body to lift sagging areas and support tissue regeneration. It helps form new collagen connective tissue, regenerate skin, induce capillary formation, and promote the breakdown of fat cells. The threads usually dissolve gradually over 3–6 months, and even after they dissolve, some elasticity from collagen production may be maintained.
- AreasV-line jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, forehead, eye-area wrinkles, body areas by region, full-face lifting
- Receiving it regularly may help with consistent anti-aging care.

Contour Pharmacopuncture
This pharmacopuncture is made with natural ingredients and helps dissolve fat, support peripheral lymph circulation, and aid waste product elimination and edema relief. It is used for facial areas with significant fat accumulation, such as the double chin, submental fullness, cheek fat, and back of the neck (protruding area), as well as targeted body slimming. A large 10cc volume is administered hygienically according to the appropriate dosage.
Wild Ginseng Obesity Pharmacopuncture
This pharmacopuncture combines wild ginseng, musk, bear bile, and bezoar. Studies by the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity in Korean Medicine and the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute have reported effects on fat breakdown, cellulite dissolution, and improved lymph circulation. We administer it while following the specified dosage.

Jahageo Pharmacopuncture (Placenta Pharmacopuncture)
This pharmacopuncture is also used to treat chronic fatigue, menopausal disorders, and menstrual-related conditions, and it helps with skin brightening, fine wrinkle reduction, and elasticity improvement. It is used to support skin regeneration and radiance.

Chuna Manual Therapy for Skeletal Alignment
When alignment from the spine and pelvis to the temporomandibular joint is disturbed, facial asymmetry can occur. Chuna manual therapy helps correct asymmetry by addressing joint misalignment and overall body imbalance together.

These treatments are included in recommended combinations by concern. During your consultation, we will explain the treatment method according to the area and condition.

06TREATMENT
Beauty Starts From Within — Herbal Medicine
A beautiful face and skin begin with a healthy body. Even if collagen synthesis is stimulated from the outside, the effect may be reduced if qi and blood circulation are blocked and recovery is low.

One-on-One Personalized Detox Herbal Medicine
When toxins and waste products build up from instant foods, junk food, alcohol, or smoking, the skin can become dull and rough, and inflammation may flare up often. We prescribe herbal medicine that supports waste product and toxin elimination, replenishes nutrition and body fluids, and helps circulation, adjusting the formula through addition and subtraction (加減) according to your constitution and symptoms.

Gyeongokgo (瓊玉膏)
In Donguibogam, this tonic is described as restoring vital energy, replenishing deficient essence (精) and marrow (髓)—that is, body fluids—enriching the blood, and helping prevent aging. When body fluids decrease with aging, the skin can become rough and dry, fine wrinkles may appear, and the complexion can become uneven due to reduced blood circulation. Gyeongokgo is known to replenish body fluids, help moisturize the skin, support blood circulation for more vitality, and strengthen the scalp to help prevent hair loss.

08FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
QHow long do the effects of maeseon last?
Maeseon threads usually dissolve gradually over 3–6 months. Even after the threads dissolve, some tissue elasticity from collagen production may be maintained, and receiving it regularly may help with consistent care. The maintenance period varies by individual.
QHow many needles are used for Jeongan Facial Acupuncture?
About 100–180 fine silver needles are used, mainly on acupoints of the head and neck, face, and chest. We look not only at the face, but also at areas that affect the facial contour, such as the shoulders, neck, temporal region, and temporomandibular joints.
QCan men receive it too?
Yes. Men often have thicker skin tissue, making pores · uneven skin texture more noticeable or the facial contours look sagging. For this reason, we recommend Jeongan Facial Acupuncture and MTS Acupuncture with slightly stronger stimulation, as well as maeseon for glabellar and nasolabial wrinkles.
QMy skin is sensitive, so I cannot receive laser treatments. Would this be okay?
Korean medicine aesthetic treatments may help those who feel burdened by surgery, Botox, or fillers; those who have difficulty with lasers due to sensitive skin; and those who have allergic reactions.
QCan you also help manage swelling after cosmetic surgery?
Swelling and bruising after cosmetic surgery are mainly caused by blood stasis from blood vessel injury. Starting as early as possible with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine to help resolve blood stasis and support circulation may help relieve swelling, bruising, and pain, and support the recovery of elasticity.
QMy face is asymmetrical after facial palsy.
Aftereffects such as contracture, synkinesis, spasms (twitching), and crocodile tears, as well as remaining asymmetry, are managed together with acupuncture, Jeongan Facial Acupuncture, and thread embedding. Facial palsy treatment is explained in detail on the Facial Palsy care page.
