The Herbal Medicine Research Institute was established based on Hoechundang’s prescription know-how and the clinical experience of Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director. Our medical team directly manages every step, from research to decoction preparation and compounding.
01OUR STORY
Kyunghee Ryu Korean Medicine Clinic Herbal Medicine Research Institute
It was established based on herbal medicine prescription know-how passed down through four generations and the clinical experience of Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director. Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director, treated patients at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital for about 45 years and researched various formulations and prescriptions for about 12 years as director of the Kyung Hee Medical Center Herbal Medicine Research Institute. Current and former professors of Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital share the latest knowledge, and Korean medicine doctors and pharmacists conduct research together.

Kyunghee Hanyak Herbal Ingredients from GMP Facilities
We use “Kyunghee Hanyak” herbal ingredients produced at GMP facilities. These are the same herbal ingredients used at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital.

In-House Research Lab and Herbal Decoction Facility
We operate our own Herbal Medicine Research Institute and herbal decoction facility. The research institute is located at Units 104–105, Daewoo Dioville, 115 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

Decoction Preparation And Compounding
We compound herbal medicines ourselves so they are easier to take and the active ingredients are well extracted.
01Prescription Review and Responsible Management
For every herbal medicine, our medical team reviews the prescription, and then an on-site specialist in the decoction facility prepares it. In addition to decoctions, our medical team also regularly prepares Gongjindan, Bowi Gongjindan, and Uwhang Cheongsimwon directly.
02Clean Decoction Preparation and Careful Ingredient Extraction
We use Kyunghee Hanyak Herbal Ingredients from GMP Facilities certified under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), the same as Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital. Under the research institute’s inspection, a dedicated decoction specialist prepares the medicine in a clean decoction facility to sufficiently extract the active ingredients.
03Highly Concentrated Extract Powder Herbal Medicine
Using a “low-temperature vacuum drying method,” we make extract powder containing the ingredients of each person’s decoction. International students and overseas travelers who may find it difficult to carry or store decoctions can take it conveniently.
