It Is Thanks to the Patients Who Have Trusted Us and Visited Us
Serving as the President’s Korean medicine physician and director of Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital was an honor for the Korean medicine community. It was all thanks to the patients who trusted us and came to us despite chronic and difficult-to-treat gastrointestinal conditions. Based on accumulated clinical experience and research, we practice patient-centered care.
For 45 years, I have treated and researched patients with gastrointestinal diseases in the field of gastroenterology.

02OUR STORY
Bowi (補胃) and chiwi (治胃) treatment, which addresses even the source of vitality that underlies stomach health
The stomach is the vessel that receives the food entering our body. When the stomach is healthy, the body and mind can feel at ease and health can be maintained. We treat functional dyspepsia, damjeok syndrome, Chronic Gastritis, Intestinal Metaplasia, gastroptosis, gastric atony, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, chronic diarrhea and constipation, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease, Gastrointestinal Cancer, and difficult-to-treat chronic fatigue with bowi and chiwi treatment.

The Path I Have Walked

Presidential Korean Medicine Physician and National Medical Advisor
In 2011, he was appointed as the Korean medicine physician for the 17th President, and in 2003, he served as a Korean medicine advisory member for the 16th President. He received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare (2000), served as a medical advisor to the Ministry of National Defense and the Prosecutors’ Office, and received the 2021 Korean Medicine Hyemin Grand Prize.
02Department of Korean Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital
As chair professor of gastroenterology at Kyung Hee University, he trained the next generation, and in 2003 and 2008, he served twice as director of Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital at Kyung Hee University Medical Center. He served as senior vice president of the Korean Internal Medicine Society and president of the National Council of Gastroenterology, laying the foundation for bowi and chiwi treatment.
03International Academic Exchange
He engaged in exchanges with the United States, Russia, Japan, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Taiwan, France, and others, and signed MOUs with overseas universities. He also attended an inter-Korean Korean medicine academic conference held in Pyongyang, North Korea.
04Research and Publications
He has published hundreds of papers, including dozens of SCI(E)-level papers on difficult-to-treat gastrointestinal diseases. He served as chair of the editorial board for Bigye Internal Medicine, the gastroenterology textbook for colleges of Korean medicine, and translated Illustrated Diagnosis of Stomach Diseases and Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment.
05Herbal Medicine Research and Formulation Development
Since 2006, he has served as director of the Herbal Medicine Research Institute at Kyung Hee University Medical Center, developing formulations and new medicines with a focus on the rapid action, safety, stability, and reproducibility of herbal medicine. He attracted a clinical trial center to conduct clinical trials of newly developed herbal medicine.
