02ABOUT
What Kind of Medicine Is Uwhang Cheongsimwon?
Uwhang Cheongsimwon first appeared under the name Uwhang Cheongsimhwan (牛黃淸心丸) in the Song dynasty medical text Taepyeong Hyemin Hwajegukbang (太平惠民和劑局方). This classical text records its use for stroke, hemiplegia, vertigo (dizziness), dysarthria (slurred speech), facial nerve palsy, palpitations, depression, insomnia, and coma. Since the 17th century during the Joseon period, it has been widely used for stroke-related disorders, high blood pressure, stroke sequelae, tension and anxiety, and insomnia.
It is used when a person suddenly collapses and loses consciousness due to wind (風), or when heart qi (心氣) is deficient and the mind is unsettled.
