02ABOUT

What Kind of Medicine Is Gongjindan?

Gongjindan (拱辰丹) is a formula composed of musk, nokyong, cornus fruit, and danggwi. Traditionally, it has been prescribed to help relieve chronic fatigue and support immunity and vitality. There are several types of Gongjindan that add or remove herbs depending on the treatment goal, and Hoechundang prepares Wonbang Sahyang Gongjindan according to the first recorded original formula.

“It fully preserves the heavenly mandate given by nature, raises kidney water (腎水) and lowers heart fire (心火), and the five organs become strong on their own.”

07FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat should I check when choosing Gongjindan?
A

Please check three things: whether it uses genuine CITES-certified musk approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, whether it follows the original formula amount of 100mg of musk per pill, and whether it is prepared directly by a Korean medicine doctor.

QWhat kind of musk and deer antler do you use?
A

We select genuine Russian musk and Russian deer antler and prepare them fresh. One 10g container of musk makes 100 pills based on the original formula amount.

QWhat is different about older Gongjindan?
A

Over time, Gongjindan becomes dry and the musk aroma fades. Hoechundang prepares it every other week so the aroma of musk can harmonize with the flavors of deer antler, cornelian cherry, and angelica root.

QCan I take it during pregnancy?
A

No. Musk can cause uterine contractions, so pregnant women should avoid taking it. It may also be unsuitable for some constitutions or health conditions, so we recommend receiving a diagnosis before it is prescribed.

QCan exam students take it?
A

We also prescribe it as an Exam Student Herbal Tonic. It is taken for a set period during times when physical stamina needs support, and because it has a stimulating effect, we recommend taking it in the morning.

QHow many pills do I take per day?
A

The standard is One Pill a Day. The frequency and duration may vary depending on your condition, so please follow the medication guidance of your Korean medicine doctor.
