02PROGRAM GOALS

Why do facial contours lose definition?

When the facial fat layer, or fat pads, thicken due to weight gain and edema, the facial contours can look uneven and larger. If skin elasticity also decreases, the facial contours may lose definition and create a tired appearance.

Why do facial contours lose definition?
  • 01

    Fat · Edema

When the fat layer is thick, as in a double chin, methods that help waste product elimination and fat breakdown may help reduce fat volume.

  • 02

    Sagging · Loss of Elasticity

We stimulate the SMAS fascial layer surrounding the facial muscles with acupuncture to release tight fascia and help stretched muscles regain appropriate tone. Sagging fat layers are lifted upward for a lifting effect.

  • 03

    Posture · Habits

The habit of resting the chin on the hand, or a straight neck or turtle neck, can make the face appear wider. We also evaluate areas that affect the facial contours, such as the neck, shoulders, and temporomandibular joint.

03BY AGE

How We Plan by Age and Sex

We tailor the plan by age, from people in their 20s who still have elasticity but want a V-line, to people in their 50s and 60s who need care for sagging and complexion. Men can also receive the treatment.

20s
Square jaw and double chin V-line — Jeongan facial acupuncture, contour pharmacopuncture
30s
When skin elasticity begins to decline — Jeongan facial acupuncture + full-face lifting maeseon
40s
Overall sagging and dull skin tone — Jeongan facial acupuncture, lifting maeseon. Because aging changes the facial contours, a full-face design is needed.
50s–60s
We manage overall facial sagging, hollowing, and loss of elasticity in a combined way.
Men
If the skin tissue is thick and the facial contour has lost definition, creating a sagging impression, we use Jeongan facial acupuncture with somewhat stronger stimulation.

Treatment Methods

Recommended combination treatment: Jeongan facial acupuncture · maeseon · contour pharmacopuncture/wild ginseng obesity pharmacopuncture · radiofrequency lifting

Jeongan Acupuncture (Facial Balancing Acupuncture, 整顔針)
01

Jeongan Acupuncture (Facial Balancing Acupuncture, 整顔針)

This acupuncture treatment means “to make the face balanced and properly aligned,” and is also called “baby-face acupuncture.” About 100–180 thin silver needles are used, mainly at acupoints of the head and neck, face, and chest. We analyze the alignment of the muscles and skeleton and help release stagnant qi and blood in the shoulders, neck, sides of the head, and temporomandibular joints.

  • Fascial release
  • Blood and lymph circulation
  • Skin elasticity
  • Contour refinement
Maeseon (Thread Lifting)
02

Maeseon (Thread Lifting)

Absorbable threads that naturally break down in the body (PDO maeseon threads) are inserted to lift sagging areas and support tissue regeneration. This helps induce the formation of new collagen connective tissue. It is performed on the V-line jawline, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, forehead, eye area, or the entire face.

Contour Pharmacopuncture
03

Contour Pharmacopuncture

This pharmacopuncture uses natural ingredients to help break down fat, support peripheral lymph circulation, promote waste product elimination, and relieve edema. It is used for the double chin, submental fullness, cheek fat, back of the neck, and other areas. A 10cc dose is administered hygienically at the appropriate amount.

04

Wild Ginseng Obesity Pharmacopuncture

This pharmacopuncture combines wild ginseng, musk, bear bile, and bezoar. Studies by the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity in Korean Medicine and the Korean Pharmacopuncture Institute have reported effects on fat breakdown, cellulite reduction, and improved lymph circulation.

05

Radiofrequency Lifting

This is a combination treatment we recommend together with Jeongan facial acupuncture and maeseon.

07FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

QHow long do the effects of maeseon last?
A

Maeseon threads usually dissolve and are absorbed gradually over 3–6 months. Even after the threads are absorbed, increased elasticity from collagen production is maintained for a certain period. The duration varies by individual.

QCan men receive this treatment?
A

Yes. Because men tend to have thicker skin tissue, we may use Jeongan facial acupuncture with somewhat stronger stimulation.

QI feel burdened by Botox or fillers. Would this be okay?
A

Korean medicine lifting is a method that helps lift the elasticity of muscles and tissues, without shaving or artificially filling the face. People who feel burdened by medications or who have sensitive skin can also have a consultation.

QHow is a double chin managed?
A

For a double chin with a thick fat layer, contour pharmacopuncture and wild ginseng obesity pharmacopuncture help with fat breakdown and waste product elimination. Partial body obesity is discussed under the body slimming procedure.
