Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director of Hoechundang Kyunghee Ryu Korean Medicine Clinic, jointly received the 2021 Korean Medicine Hyemin Award. The co-recipient was Professor Sungsoo Kim of Kyung Hee University College of Korean Medicine. The award ceremony was held on December 14, 2021, at the event commemorating the 123rd anniversary of the Association of Korean Medicine, held at the GLAD Hotel in Yeouido.
The Korean Medicine Hyemin Award is given to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of Korean medicine through research and academic activities, medical service, social participation, and other efforts in the field of Korean medicine. It has continued since 2011, and recipients have been selected based on dedication, contribution, social recognition, and related criteria for the development of Korean medicine.
Years spent walking with both clinical care and scholarship
Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director, served as the Korean medicine physician for the 17th President, and as a professor at Kyung Hee University College of Korean Medicine and clinician, he has supported both Korean medicine education and the clinical field. This award has significance in recognizing his contributions to the academic development of Korean medicine, the accumulation of clinical experience, and the training of future practitioners.
The spirit Hoechundang should carry forward
Hoechundang Kyunghee Ryu Korean Medicine Clinic has continued clinical care for four generations since 1904, and we have valued refining long-standing experience so it can help today’s patients. We believe an award becomes more meaningful when it does not remain only as one person’s history, but leads to more careful clinical care and sincere research.
Hoechundang will continue to uphold our principle of care: calmly considering each patient’s symptoms, daily life, and constitution. We will also continue to learn and share so that Korean medicine can be used more safely and in a balanced way for everyday health management.
