In the clinic, I often meet people who have shaky hands, nausea, and poor sleep before exams, interviews, or presentations. Everyone gets nervous before an important moment, but when that nervousness leads to indigestion, palpitations, dizziness, or reduced concentration, the burden on the body increases. Many people think of Uwhang Cheongsimwon at such times, and the more familiar a prescription is, the more important it is to calmly check whether it suits your body before taking it.
When tension appears in the body
When a tense state lasts, the sympathetic nervous system can become sensitive, causing chest tightness, decreased appetite, and shallow sleep. You may also feel that your head is not clear and that anxiety grows even over small matters. In Korean medicine, Uwhang Cheongsimwon has been used as a prescription to help calm excessive tension of the mind and body and support circulation.
Check the timing in advance
It is difficult to recommend taking it for the first time right before entering an exam room or interview room. Depending on the person, as the body relaxes, they may feel drowsiness, fogginess, or reduced concentration. If you have an important schedule, it is safer to check your response a few days in advance, at a relaxed time, with a small amount or the recommended amount, and if needed, consult the medical team about the dose and timing.
In general, taking it 1–2 hours before the scheduled event can be considered, but this may vary depending on constitution and symptoms. For pill forms, chewing slowly and swallowing with warm water can help reduce burden.
It is not the same prescription for everyone
Even if nervousness is severe, Uwhang Cheongsimwon is not right for everyone. If you usually take blood pressure medication, sleeping pills, sedatives, anticoagulants, or similar medications, if there is a possibility of pregnancy, or if you have a history of heart disease or cerebrovascular disease, you should receive a Consultation first rather than taking it on your own. Do not stop medications you are taking on your own, and it is good to check the names of your current medications and let us know during your visit.
When we recommend that you receive medical care
- When a state of getting almost no sleep due to tension and anxiety repeats
- When palpitations, hand tremors, or indigestion continue even after the event
- When severe fatigue, lack of energy, or pain remains after an exam or interview
- When you have frequent headaches or dizziness, or when an existing condition makes prescription selection require caution
If sudden one-sided paralysis, slurred speech, decreased consciousness, severe chest pain, or the worst headache you have ever experienced occurs, calling 119 or going to the emergency room comes before taking herbal medicine. Signs that are difficult to dismiss as simple tension should be checked quickly.
The body may stay tense longer than expected before an important event. Uwhang Cheongsimwon can be an option that may help those who need it, but the burden can be reduced when it is prepared together with enough sleep, light breathing exercises, and meals that are easy on digestion. We recommend managing your condition safely by reviewing your constitution, schedule, and any medications you are taking.
