How was Bigam Capsule made?
Dr. Bongha Ryu, Honorary Director, developed Gambisan together with the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion at Kyung Hee University while serving as director of the Kyung Hee University Herbal Medicine Research Institute. Gambisan was studied as an herbal medicine prescription to help fat metabolism, including for overweight patients who had difficulty exercising due to joint pain. Bigam Capsule is made by extracting this prescription into a highly concentrated extract and placing it in capsules.

From Weight Loss to Maintenance, a Step-by-Step Plan
We create an individualized plan based on your constitution, symptoms, and pace of weight loss. The duration of use and concentration of the medicine are determined in consultation with the medical team.

Intensive Weight-Loss Phase (3 Months) — Bigam Capsule U
We view obesity as a chronic inflammatory state in which waste products (damjeok) and toxins accumulate due to weakened gastrointestinal function. This phase helps reduce edema by supporting waste product elimination and detoxification, while beginning active weight loss. A detox decoction to support liver function and intestinal detoxification or Cheongjang Capsule for retained stool management may also be used.

Homeostasis-Overcoming Maintenance Phase (3 Months) — Bigam Capsule U~M
This phase helps restore weakened metabolism and circulation and supports hormone balance so that appetite control can be regained. Insulin resistance management is also considered. This is an important period for creating a new set point, the weight the body tries to maintain, at the reduced weight.

Yoyo Prevention Maintenance Phase (3~6 Months) — Bigam Capsule Y
With any diet, yoyo weight regain can occur if maintenance is neglected. We recommend a maintenance prescription for about 3~6 months to help preserve the restored metabolic capacity and new set point. The duration varies by individual.

In a retrospective study analyzing the records of 205 outpatients at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital, after use within 16 weeks, the average body weight was reported to decrease from 73.69kg to 69.01kg, and body fat percentage from 37.38% to 34.50%. 54.1% lost 5% or more, and 17.1% lost 10% or more. Adverse reactions were mostly mild, with nausea, palpitations, and insomnia commonly reported.

QHow long should I take it?
A typical plan includes a 3-month intensive weight-loss phase, a 3-month homeostasis-overcoming maintenance phase, and a 3~6-month yoyo prevention maintenance phase. The duration of use and concentration are determined in consultation with the medical team.
QI’m new to diet medication. Will it be okay?
For those who are new to it or have experienced discomfort with previous diet medications, we recommend the mild M (Mild) type.
QAre there any side effects?
In the Gambisan study, some patients reported mostly mild adverse reactions, such as nausea, palpitations, and insomnia. If you have any uncomfortable symptoms during use, we will adjust the prescription in consultation with the medical team.
QCan it be done together with treatment procedures?
